Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai Elantra is a sedan with gasoline-driven engine and automatic gearbox. The capacity of its fuel tank is 43 liters and its consumption is approximately 13 km/L. Its designed to comfortly fit 5 passengers and the car measures approximately 4,67 meters. The Elantra is equipped with a sound system that includes AM/FM Radio, CD, MP3, auxiliary for iPod and USB 3.0. The trunk holds 485 liters.

IMPORTANT NOTE
As part of the measures to combat the propagation of Covid-19, the payments that are made at the car rental offices in Cuba are only accepted with Visa, Mastercard, American Express or cards in freely convertible currency emitted in Cuba.
Cards emitted in the USA are accepted.
The payments can NOT be made in cash.

The following payments should be made directly at the car rental office in USD when picking up the car:

• Additional driver: 3 USD per day per driver
• Supplement for reservations that start at an international airport

GENERAL INFORMATION

Before renting a car with Rex, please read this important and essential annex to the booking conditions.

When picking up the car

The car rental company requires the client to provide:

• Voucher
• Passport or id card
• Valid driver’s license for all drivers (the driver’s licenses must be valid throughout the entire rental period and at least two years should have passed after its expedition)
• Card for warranty deposit and supplements

Vehicle category

Rex confirm only car categories, and not specific models.

Age limits for renting a car

The minimum age allowed to rent a car is 21 years and the maximum age is 80 years.

Fuel

The vehicle is handed out with a full tank and when returning the car, the tank should be as empty as possible since there is no reimbursement for any fuel left in the tank. The fuel that should be used is ”gasolina especial”, that can be purchased in CUP at the gas stations.

Refundable deposit

When renting a car the client must leave a warranty deposit. This amount will be refunded at the end of the rental period in accordance with the insurance conditions. The deposit is payable locally in USD and mandatorily with Visa, Mastercard, American Express or cards in freely convertible currency emitted in Cuba. Cards emitted in the USA are accepted. The payments can NOT be made in cash.

Accidents

In case of an accident/damage the client must immediately report the incident to the police and obtain a complete police statement concerning the accident. Any damage must be reported to the car rental company within 24 hours. Insurance will not cover any damage when driving drunk, on drugs or under the influence of strong medicine. Please check that you are provided with breakdown/vehicle assistance provision and telephone numbers from the car rental company when collecting the vehicle.

Returning the vehicle

The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as when was rented. If the vehicle is returned with damages, the car rental company will charge the client according to the insurance policy and rental conditions. These payments are to be made in USD and mandatorily with Visa, Mastercard, American Express or cards in freely convertible currency emitted in Cuba. Cards emitted in the USA are accepted. The payments can NOT be made in cash.

Insurance

The mandatory insurance provides liability relief coverage, as long as the client complies with the clauses contained in the vehicle lease contract. The payment of this coverage exonerates the client from the payment responsibility for the concepts:

• Vehicle damage
• Vehicle loss
• Fire
• Total or partial theft (except tyres and music equipment)
• Crash or rollover
• Accidents
• Natural disasters
• Damages caused to the property of others or injuries to third parties that are caused by driving a vehicle on public roads

In all the cases described above, the client must immediately notify the competent authorities of the event.

The insurance does not cover partial theft, accident or fire due to negligent actions of the client, when it is proven by the competent authorities that the client has been driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs or similar, or when using the vehicle in illicit activities.

Traffic violations

Parking tickets and traffic violations are the responsibility of the client. The police will write on the rental agreement if fines are payable. Clients should never pay any fines on the spot. Fines are payable to the car rental company, when the vehicle is returned, in USD and mandatorily with Visa, Mastercard, American Express or cards in freely convertible currency emitted in Cuba. Cards emitted in the USA are accepted. The payments can NOT be made in cash.

One way drop off fee

If the vehicle is returned in a different province than where it was picked up, a one way drop off will be charged at the car rental office in USD and is to be paid mandatorily with Visa, Mastercard, American Express or cards in freely convertible currency emitted in Cuba. Cards emitted in the USA are accepted. The payments can NOT be made in cash.

Cards emitted in the USA

If your intention is to pay the additional charges with a card emitted in the USA, we recommend you to ask your bank for authorization for payments in Cuba before traveling, and to have in mind turning on the roaming on your mobile phone when making the payments, so that you can receive the code for their finalization.

Penalties

In case of irregularities, the penalties are paid in USD with Visa, MasterCard, American Express or cards in freely convertible currency emitted in Cuba. Cards emitted in the USA are accepted. The payments can NOT be made in cash. For more information, please consult our rental conditions.
