Entry Requirements

Travel to Cuba for tourist activities remains prohibited by statute. However, the Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued general licenses for 12 categories of travel. Individuals who meet the regulatory conditions of the general license they seek to travel under do not need to apply for an additional license from OFAC to travel to Cuba. The 12 categories of authorized travel to Cuba are: family visits; official business of the U.S. government, foreign governments, and certain intergovernmental organizations; journalistic activity; professional research and professional meetings; educational activities; religious activities; public performances, clinics, workshops, athletic and other competitions, and exhibitions; support for the Cuban people; humanitarian projects; activities of private foundations or research or educational institutes; exportation, importation, or transmission of information or informational materials; and certain authorized export transactions.

In accordance with the National Security Presidential Memorandum on Strengthening the Policy of the United States Toward Cuba of June 2017, the State Department also publishes a list of entities and subentities that are under the control of, or act for or on behalf of, the Cuban military, intelligence, or security services or personnel and with which direct financial transactions would disproportionately benefit the Cuban military, intelligence, or security services or personnel at the expense of the Cuban people or private enterprise in Cuba – the State Department’s List of Restricted Entities and Subentities Associated with Cuba (“Cuba Restricted List”). Persons subject to U.S. jurisdiction will now be prohibited from engaging in certain direct financial transactions with entities and subentities identified by the State Department on the Cuba Restricted List. Certain transactions will be excluded from this prohibition pursuant to exceptions detailed in the NSPM.

The requirements demanded by car rental companies in Cuba for driving the car are:

-Be at least 21 years of age; except for the sports category of the REX trademark, which requires a minimum of 25 years of age.

-Be at most 80 years old
-Possess a valid driver’s license or permit according to the car you have reserved.

With a minimum of two (2) years of issue, except for Category I Sports rentals of the REX commercial brand, for which a driving license must be presented with a minimum of three (3) years of issue.

For licenses issued in the United States and England, the above requirement does not apply. For rentals with a driver, it is not necessary to present a driving license.

It is appropriate to clarify that both on our part and on the part of the authorities, it is required that it be an original document in physical format, which is why we inform you that the driving license in digital format is NOT accepted.

Additional drivers must meet the above requirements. These are only authorized to drive the car in the absence of the contract holder. They are not authorized to open or close contracts, make extensions or modifications to the contract, receive refunds or include an additional driver.

Rental cars

Car rental through our services is possible for all nationalities travelers and Cubans living abroad. Attention: Car rental through our services is not allowed for Cuban nationals living in Cuba. The minimum age to rent a car is 21 years old + Driving licence for 2 years (Driving licence must be more than 2 years old). Not to be declared No Grato: the customer is exclusively responsible for knowing his or her situation with a Cuban rental company. We has no access to this confidential information. If a customer books a rental and has been declared No Grato on a previous rental, We will not be responsible if the rental agency denies delivery on the reason that the registered driver is declared No Grato. No refund will be made in this case.

  • Does your prepaid car booking qualify for a refund? Check out your Reservation for details. If it does, just know you have to cancel the booking at least 6 hours before pick-up.
  • Need to return the car early? In this case, you won’t be refunded for any unused time.

Hotels

  • Most hotels refund all your money if you cancel before their cancellation deadline.
  • Some hotel rooms are non-refundable, meaning you won’t get your money back if you cancel.
  • If you cancel a non-refundable hotel booking, or cancel your booking after the hotel’s cancellation deadline, you won’t be able to get a refund, no matter how you paid (using points or your credit card, for instance).
  • If you canceled before the hotel’s cancellation deadline but still see a charge from them on your credit card statement, get in touch with the hotel itself to make sure you get your refund.

  • Within the last 24 hours: You may be able to cancel and get all your money back.
  • More than 24 hours ago: Your airline, hotel, car rental company, or activity provider may have a cancellation fee that we’ll pass on to you.

What should I check before contacting you?

We are handling all cases in the order that we receive them and we will inform you as soon as we have an update in your case.

Handling times for some requests and with some airlines are currently estimated to be at least 6-8 weeks if they do not concern a flight in the near future. Depending on the delays from airlines a refund payment can take between 2-8 weeks, and even longer in extraordinary cases.

Please read this before contacting us:

  1. To check the status of your flights, we recommend checking directly on the airline websites before contacting us.
  2. We advise you to verify online on the airline’s web pages if an airline permits any refunds or changes. Some airlines have stopped offering cash refunds for cancelled flights. Instead, they are offering alternatives such as vouchers or the ability to rebook.
  3. Please understand that waiting times at this moment are much longer than normal.
  4. If you have an active customer-service request we kindly ask you not to call or email again as that will only make our queues longer.
  5. In all cases you may also turn to the airline for assistance with your request. They are obligated to assist you in cases where they have cancelled your flight, not matter if you have bought your tickets using a travel agent or not.

Regarding cancellations of your booking: 

If you have not received a flight cancellation email from us 72 hours before departure and you don’t wish to travel on your ticket, please contact the airline to cancel your ticket.

NO SHOW: Total loss of ticket if you do not show for your flight.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND: If you cancel your reservation or if you fail to travel on the charter flight, your right to receive a refund is limited, as set forth: If your notice is received between 8 to 30 days before departure you don’t receive full refund; you must pay $250.00; if notice is received 7 days or less before departure there will be NO Refund; For any December Flights there will be NO refund. All requests for refunds must be sent to us in writing or by facsimile. Refunds will be made within 14 days of receipt of your notice of cancellation. We have no right to cancel the charter less than 10 days before the departure except in circumstances that make it physically impossible to perform the charter trip. If this occurs, we will notify you as soon as possible but no later than the scheduled departure date. If the charter is cancelled, a full refund will be made to you within 14 days after cancellation.

All requests for refunds must be sent to us in writing or by facsimile. Refunds will be made within 14 days of receipt of your notice of cancellation.

We have no right to cancel the charter flight less than 10 days before departure except in circumstances that make it physically impossible for the flight to operate. If this occurs, we will notify you as soon as possible but no later than the departure date. If the charter is cancelled, we will issue a full refund to you within 14 days of the cancellation. The rights and remedies made available under this contract are in addition to any other rights or remedies available under applicable law. However, we offer refunds under this contract with the express understanding that the receipt of the refund by you waives any additional remedies.

MAJOR CHANGES: If we make major changes before departure, you have a right to cancel and receive a full refund. The following are major changes: (1) a change in the departure or return date, unless the change results from a flight delay experienced by the air carrier (if the delay is longer than 48 hours, it will be considered a major change); (2) a change in the origin or destination city; or (3) a price increase of more than 10 percent occurring 10 or more days before departure. In no event can we increase your price less than 10 days before departure. If a major change must be made in the program, we will notify you within 7 days after first learning of the change, but in any event at least 10 days prior to the scheduled departure. If, less than 10 days before scheduled departure, we become aware that a major change must be made, we will notify you as soon as possible. Within 7 days after receiving notification of a major change, but in no event later than departure, you may cancel your reservation and you will receive a full refund within 14 days after cancelling. If a major change occurs after the departure of the flight, which you are unwilling to accept, we will refund, within 14 days after your scheduled return date, the portion of your payment that applies to the services not accepted.

INSURANCE: Trip cancellation, health, and accident insurance may be available. If you are interested in receiving more information about this coverage, please check with your travel agent.

INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS: The operation of the charter flight is subject to the foreign government granting landing rights. If the air carrier cannot obtain landing rights, the flight will be cancelled, and a full refund will be made to you automatically.
